In most cases, Love Your Rug does not charge extra for stain removal. If the stain is stubborn and penetrates the rug’s fibres, we may have to pre-spray it and work on it separately from our rug cleaning process. This is considered an additional service and will incur an additional charge. We will always alert you of all fees before any work is conducted on your valuable rug.

Although many people use rug and carpet cleaning interchangeably, it is important to understand the difference between a rug and a carpet. A rug, also known as an area rug, is a floor covering of thick woven material or animal skin, which does not extend over the entire floor. On the other hand, a carpet, also known as a wall-to-wall carpet, covers the entire floor. Because of this distinct difference, area rug cleaning and carpet cleaning are done very differently. Area rugs are cleaned in our state-of-the-art rug cleaning facility in Toronto and wall-to-wall carpets are cleaned in-home with sophisticated steam cleaning technology.

Please note that all area rug cleaning is done in our state-of-the-art rug cleaning facility in Toronto and is different than in-home carpet cleaning for wall-to-wall carpets. Professional area rug cleaning requires expensive machinery and sophisticated facilities to be performed properly.

Unlike wall-to-wall carpets, area rugs cannot be cleaned in-home. The reason why area rugs can not be cleaned properly in your home is because they cannot be dusted properly, pre-soaking is impossible, stain removal can’t be done properly, and cleaning the top and bottom of your area rug requires two different cleaning processes, which cannot be performed inside the home with a truck mount or paintable unit.

Furthermore, your floor under the area rug may get damaged if the rug is not hung to dry.

Inadequate drying of your area rug can also cause mold and mildew as well as permanent damage to your rug, in effect shortening its life span.
On the other hand, wall-to-wall carpet is made for in-home steam cleaning. Piles are made for on-site washing by portable and truck mount units. We clean Persian rugs, silk rugs, oriental rugs, sheepskin rugs, synthetic rugs, wool rugs and more.

Yes in most cases we can completely remove puke stains and puke odors.

Most of the time we can remove wine stains completely, but sometimes it is not possible to remove the wine stain completely. Sometimes only 80% of the wine stains can be removed as a faint yellowish mark tends to stay behind where the wine stain was.

Yes we offer specialty cleaning for pet urine and we use enzymes to eliminate all animal urine odors.

Silk rugs are cleaned and processed by hand by our skilled in house rug technicians. To ensure the colours do not run we treat the rugs prior to cleaning with a special ingredient. This ingredient “fixes” the colour prior to cleaning so the colour does not bleed or run. In most cases silk area rugs come in with a single stain issue such as coffee, juice and pet stains. This requires more work to concentrate on the area with the stain which may increase the price to process the silk rug.

Yes, with proper water temperature and detergents that are loaded with eucalyptus oils, this oil protects the fabric from being distorted during the cleaning process. Once cleaned, we immediately remove 95% of the moisture with our centrifuge and then the rug is hung naturally to dry.

In most cases we do not charge extra for stain removal. If the rug requires a second cleaning we reprocess at no extra charge. If the stain is not removed after a second process we attach a “special note” to the rug so the customer is aware we have reprocessed the rug and that we have tried our best.

We are able to size down rugs and change the borders. We offer binding, surging and fringing.

No, unfortunately cigarette butts cannot be removed.

Yes, for superficial reasons like removing stains and odours but also for the health of you and your family. Asthma triggers and allergens like pollen, mould spores, dust mites, tobacco smoke and pet dander can penetrate deep into the carpet’s fibres. Professional carpet cleaning on a regular basis (at least once a year) reduces your exposure to these triggers and allergens as well as other bacteria and germs, and improves the overall air quality inside your home.

We never recommend cleaning specialty rugs like oriental rugs, animal hide rugs or silk rugs yourself. These rugs are made of unique and expensive textiles, and if they are not cleaned by a professional, they can be damaged. If you attempt to clean your oriental rug at home, you will likely end up having to bring it to our facility to fix the damage you’ve done, so skip that step and contact Love Your Rug. Leave it to the experts!
